Our Year 4 House Captains went with Mrs Budd, Miss Birkett and some of the children in Reception to meet Helen Viner and Julian Hight, a local oak tree specialist (and ex-St John's parent).
Together, they helped to plant a heritage oak sapling, as part of an exciting new community art project based around the legacy of Frome's 'Last Tree Dreaming' project.
This new project, entitled 'Last Sapling Dreaming', links to many themes including transformation, nature, hope, growth, regeneration, dreams, aspiration, and hopes for a bright and happy future.
Hi Mrs Marsland,
I just wanted to write and say what an absolute joy it was to plant the heritage oak with St John's School children. I was so proud and impressed how the older children looked after the younger children, how they all got involved and took turns, listened and supported one another. It was great seeing Mrs Budd and Miss Birkett bring them along. I wanted to let you know as I think we all had a super time. Julian Hight the local oak tree specialist commented how great they were too.
